MISSION

To provide an exceptional musical experience for the youth of Brevard County; to promote growth, development and quality of music experience through education; to encourage participation with the community and industry of Brevard and surrounding counties.

 Music is universal.  It has the ability to excite the human spirit, stimulate the imagination and touch the soul.  The
 Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra experience engages a student's intellect through musical instruction, weekly 
 rehearsal and major performances.  The BSYO is the only non-profit organization in Brevard County in a unique
 position to offer the youth of Brevard an opportunity to reach their musical potential.

PURPOSE AND GOALS

We strive to provide an educationally sound musical experience that will motivate students to fulfill their potential and strive for excellence.  We offer challenging rehearsal and performance opportunities for participating students and serve the community by encouraging a greater understanding of and participation in music.  The BSYO is an affiliate of the Brevard Symphony Orchestra (BSO).

The BSYO is comprised of students ages 6-18 who are admitted through a competitive audition process.  We are committed to the training of talented young musicians by professional musicians and conductors.  The students are offered the opportunity to expand their skills in classical music and to work with a peer group that has attained the same level of expertise and talent.

BSYO musicians are offered:

• In-depth study of difficult orchestral repertoire

• Performances during the academic year and travel as possible

• Exposure to nationally recognized soloists who perform locally and master classes by BSO musicians and guests

Since 1984, the BSYO has been committed to pursuing and maintaining high musical standards
