BSYO PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Welcome to the 24rd season of the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra. As we begin this season, it remains the goal of the BSYO to enhance the abilities of Brevard County’s young musicians by providing “an exceptional musical experience . . .promoting growth, development and quality of music experience through education and encouraging participation with the community and industry of Brevard.” Rest assured that the Board of Directors, Conductors and Executive Director of the BSYO are solely committed to that end. The BSYO consists of three orchestras, Symphony, Concert and String Ensemble, and is composed of approximately 200 talented musicians from elementary to high school-aged students. All the members of the BSYO are extraordinary talents, having been selected through a laborious audition process. The members of the BSYO’s orchestras are extremely fortunate to be under the exceptional, dedicated leadership of Joe Kreines, conductor of the Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Tom Silliman, conductor of the Concert Orchestra, and Linda Woodrich, conductor of the String Ensemble, and the BSYO’s new Executive Director, Marti Upton. Marti and each of the Conductors possess a level of dedication that is unsurpassed. Certainly, they each continue to impress with their ideas and leadership and, because of that, the BSYO forges new ground everyday and continues to lead the way among youth orchestras. The Board of the BSYO would like to express its sincere thanks to the parents of our members, Brevard County music teachers, string consultants and private music teachers for your continued support of the BSYO. Your hard work, encouragement, and zeal to the BSYO members is beyond reproach. Without question, the beautiful music you hear from Brevard County’s finest at the BSYO reflects the tireless dedication and hard work of all of you. Finally, the Board requests your support. It is incumbent upon you to support the BSYO with financial, in-kind, or other contributions. Without your support, we risk losing one of the finest musical learning experiences for the youth of Brevard County. The young musicians of the BSYO deserve your support. Again, welcome! Steven C.
